HISTORY
As a leading player in the Manawatu building industry, it's hard to imagine Colspec started out as one person back in 1980, building mainly in the rural and residential sectors around Palmerston North.
After three years as construction manager of a local building company, Shane O'Brien set up Colspec Construction and through a lot of hard work, transformed the business into a local success story.
Currently employing over 40 permanent staff, Colspec covers a huge variety of building work, from large scale corporate projects worth millions of dollars to residential work and maintenance.

Shane O'Brien
Managing Director
Shane is the Managing Director of Colspec. His role includes client liaison, governance, financial management, work programming, and contract procurement.
Shane has been in the building industry for 45+ years and has owned/managed his own business for 40+ years.
Hamish O'Brien
General Manager
Hamish is the General Manager at Colspec. He joined Colspec as a Cadet Quantity Surveyor in 2006 after spending a year working on-site. He has worked his way through the ranks all the way from labourer to General Manager and now guides Colspec with over 15 years of experience behind him.
His role includes business strategy, project procurement, financial management, staff and office management, programming and quality management.
